We just posted a new episode of “Better Living TV” that features 5 Great Restaurants in the Twin Cities Northeast Metro.

There’s even a selection from across the border in Packerland!

Check it out and then make a comment with your favorite restaurants that were not on the list.

Well, I hate to say it but Summer is inching toward the finish line.

Having a garden is a fun part of home-ownership for many people.  It can also produce large quantities of fresh produce. Lots of people would love to preserve that produce by canning, however canning can be a bit daunting if you don’t know what you are doing.

We’ve just posted a great expert interview in the latest episode of “Better Living TV”.
Check it out and give us your feedback.

Another great summer activity is buying or selling your home.  The market is hot right now so if you are looking to make a move, don’t hesitate to call.  🙂

If you’re trying to sell your home, no matter how beautiful your home may be, you would be wise to consider doing some home staging.  Home staging doesn’t have to cost a lot of money so we’ve outlined a few staging ideas that you can do for little or no cost.

1.  Bring in the Sun

One easy way to bring some added warmth to the home is to increase the level of light shining in.  This is often a matter of a good window cleaning and opening up the the blinds.  It would be best to not just open the blinds but to actually fully raise the blinds and expose the entire window.

2.  De-clutter

Many people will keep the main living spaces uncluttered but they forget about the other spaces in their home.  When a potential buyer is viewing your home, they open every door and look in every room, including the unfinished and storage areas.  Eliminate excessive amounts of boxes and stored items as much as possible.  Ask a friend or family member to temporarily store the items for you.

Sometimes it’s worth renting a small storage unit to reduce the clutter in your home.  If you don’t feel the items are worth storing, you could have a garage sale or donate the items to charity.  Either way, the more room and organization your home displays, the more impressive it is to a potential buyer.

3.  Furnish to Scale

Today’s modern day furnishings are comfortable but often bulky.  The size of the furnishings in your home need to bring balance to the room but more importantly, they need to exhibit a comfortable but roomy space.  We recommend searching the internet for attractive rooms and and rearranging your furniture to mimic those spaces.  Often we don’t need to buy anything, just move some things around.

One example is a master bedroom.  If you love your king size bed but it takes up the majority of your master bedroom, swap it out for a smaller bed.  Many people have a spare bedroom with a smaller bed that they can use instead.  Then you can convert the spare bedroom into a organized office while you store your big comfy bed somewhere else for a little while.

Of course there are many other ways to make your home more attractive to a potential buyer but these three are quick, easy and inexpensive ways to make a big difference.

If you have other examples, we would love to hear your thoughts.

Of course if you are planning to sell your home, we can show you how to sell your home in the fastest time at the best price.  Just give us a call Pete 651-379-9313 John 651-379-9312.
